I would like to know how to prevent readers from copy pasting material they would be able to read on my website.

Virtually impossible. The rule of thumb is that if you do not want the risk of it being copied/stolen, do not put it on the Internet.

I just saw something funny on the Joomla forum:
Joomla Content Obfuscator

JosObfuscator tool is a very powerful mambot (Plug-in) to prevent automated systems, spammers, email hunters and even regular human copy from being theft your emails and content. For example {joso}Joomla{/joso} your visitors will see "Joomla" but when they copy and past the content they will see: "j@^N4oI-*4Vs~@}6WagjnBwohDl}s^rx0(pV3.hfcJe^Ho7+ahwm"! Anti Span / Anti Email hunter / Prevent Copy! Current Version 1.0.1: winword bug was fixed, Thanks for Mr. Matt NB: Be aware when using JosObfuscator for the whole content, the se ...
Sounds promising in this regard :-)
I see a lot of people with this CopyScape thingymajig in there footer, research it it probably adds some rights to your posts so you can sue the *****r who decides to take your articles without referencing.
Also ontop of this add your own decleration and state that you don't want anybody copying, and that it is strictly forbidden unless they provide you as a source, or something else like give you some money :)
As for the plugin above and other encrypters if that's what it is, seems like it could have some serious SE problems i.e getting indexed correctly, or at all.
>>research it it probably adds some rights to your posts<<
No, CopyScape doesn't "add any rights". In the United States, you have rights to anything you create as soon as it's in some kind of tangible format. All CopyScape does is allow you to put in your URL, and it'll search for sites that are using your content. When it finds it, they are displayed, and you may choose to go after the offenders with a cease & desist.
Basiacally, you *can't* stop people from taking what you put on the internet. If you put it up, they can take it. I don't care *what* scripts or add-ons you use to disable right-click or somehow obfuscate your stuff, it can still be easily taken in a snap. All ou can do is chase them down. It's your decision on whether or not you want to spend the time and $$ in doing it.
Many o the "automated" ways use your RSS feed - so every time you post, it automagically updates their site. There are was to bock certain people from your feeds. I'm guessing this is hat you're looking for. But people coming to your site, copy/paste into something else? you can't stop that from happening. (You might be able to prevent the copy/paste, but there are still ways to get the content if they really want it.)
Hopefully that helps. (And what Shadow said up there is true - if you don't want it stolen, don't put it on the internet.)
