Advice for categories or sub-categories not showing

Since, for some unknown reason, this problem happened again on my website (WordPress SEO v.1.4.7 – problem noticed a couple of days ago), I would like to share this piece of advise that also appears in older posts:
– If you realise that suddenly (usually sub-)category links get 404 error, before panicking, first go to “Yoast SEO settings/Permalinks/Strip the category base (usually /category/) from the category URL” and un-check it.
– Save the new settings
– Then check again the “…strip category base…” option, save the settings and the category links should return in normal operation.

Following the same procedure with your “Custom Structure” at general wordpress Settings page/Permalinks may also help.

Did anyone else notice this problem lately?
