Deal with conflicted plugin

Hi, I’m using a free cool theme that provide a portfolio. I love this theme but not the portfolio, so I want to use a portfolio plugin. My problem is that portfolio plugins are in conflict with this theme, so they work only if i’m using another theme. Is there a way to make both working? (theme and external plugin)
