  • It’s possible, but that’s a pretty specific request when asking to work and make compatible with other plug-ins. Especially when the WPPA already has a lightbo feature.

What are you trying to do exactly ? Or is it a matter of looks ?

    Hi –

    Thanks for your response

I literally just found the setting to make another lightbox work in WPPA, just as the email came in about your post here! 🙂

The setting is in table IX:A6. I put “fancybox” in that setting and so far it works like a charm. I just prefer the look of the Fancybox lightbox.

Warning: when you use a different lightbox on the slideshow, you will see only two images in the set, not the full slideshow range. This is the main reason why there is a wppa+ embedded lightbox.

Hi opajaap – Thanks for your response — and your GREAT plugin! 🙂

Maybe I’ll stick with your built in lightbox then. Let me ask you 2 follow-ups about the lightbox:

    1. Is there as way to hook in to the functionally of your lightbox for other non-wppa images on the same WordPress site?

    2. The NextGen gallery has an option that allows a lightbox to show all the images in gallery – meaning those beyond what are displayed on a page based on the images-per-page pagination. So, if your gallery shows 20 pics per page, in the lightbox you can continue to view pic 21 and on to the last one… without having to leave the lightbox and click to the next gallery page. Is there an option like that in your plugin?

I just did some experimenting and found the answer to my question #1 above.

A: Yes, just use rel=”wppa[variable]” in the img anchor tag.

Your conclusion on rel=”wppa[var]” is correct.

    2. No, only the images shown have a <a rel="wppa[var]"><img ..></a> wrapping. Make the pagesize larger and/or the thumbnail size smaller…?

    Thanks again.

For question #2, it’s just a nice feature to be able to keep viewing an entire gallery in the lightbox. For a gallery that only has 50 images, a one page, smaller thumbs, solution is fine. For a gallery with 400+ images, that’s a different story. Anyhow, it’s just a wish-list kind of thing – not a deal breaker (for a free and awesome plugin) 🙂

Sorry for seeming critical of the built in lightbox. I just reviewed some previous threads and see that you have gone above and beyond to include a very flexible integrated lightbox in your plugin.

Just starting to work your plugin and it’s really great. A lot to learn and experiment with. I’ll send a donation when I can swing it.

It is also a matter of performance. I am currently working on this software to make it run on a site with up to 250.000 images, albums with over 2000 images…. so… but i will keep it in mind.
