    Getting Error: Signal 15 is sent to script!
    After updating to BackWPup Version 3.0.10
    Tried to switch to Tar GZip but still same error …

    any feedback on this? Thank you!

    Hi – I also get this message. ERROR: Signal 15 is sent to script!

    This is the first time I have used backwpup, am backing up to a folder.

    Not sure what doing wrong?

    Same situation. Would like to get updates as the story unfolds. ERROR: Signal 15 is sent to script! and backing up to a folder with a .zip file.

    Hi,

    the “Signal 15” message means that our backup job got killed by your web host provider. That will happen on small webspaces. You can set BackWPup to use many retries. Please try the following at Settings->Jobs:

    – change “Restart on archive creation” to 200
    – change “Maximum number of retries for job steps” to 9 or higher

    You can also try to split your backup jobs into smaller ones.

    Works great. No more errors. Thanks for the quick response.

    Under Settings > Jobs, there is another option I am wondering about. Besides setting:

    Maximum number retries = 9
    Restart on archive creation = 200

    what about the check box for “Restart on every main step?” Would checking that box also help to not time-out?

    Hi devrag,

    No, because “Restart on every main step?” will only ensure that the plugin checks the progress on every restart. But your server kills our script when we need to long to execute. We have no influence on the time-out.

    OK, so I am backing up to Amazon S3 and have done these:
    – change “Restart on archive creation” to 200
    – change “Maximum number of retries for job steps” to 9 or higher

    And am still getting the error. I understand what you’re saying about the host/server…can you tell me how to do this suggestion?:
    “You can also try to split your backup jobs into smaller ones.”

    I don’t have the option “Restart on archive creation”?
    Using version 3.1.1.
    The error came right after updating WordPress to 3.8 and BackWPup to 3.1.1

    It is important to select settings and after the proper tab on the upper left corner. Hope it helps

    Hi, G.

    I believe those setting went away with the plugin updates. I’ve had very good luck breaking my backups into at least 4 jobs, so they don’t time out. Each runs daily. Here are my jobs:
    1. Just the database
    2. Half the files. Whichever make sense for you.
    3. Other half of the files.
    4. Optimization and checking.

    I don’t have any sites with a database so big that #1 above gets an error. I have had to break the file backups (2 & 3)into smaller groupings on one site.

    Nothing of the above helped. I even decreased the size of the backup by backing up just a few files and the database. There is no timeout. See log below.

    On top of this there’s also an S3 API validation error. But in the job settings for S3 it authenticates just fine.

    I’m also getting errors. Changed the max number of retries to 9, but couldn’t find the other option. Has it been renamed to:

    Maximum script execution time

    Reinstalled the plug, did not help either :-/
    Anyone from the plugin devteam care to explain exactly what Signal 15 is about?

    Same thing here. The error is sent right away, just a second after starting the backup. None of the above helped. Any thoughts from the developers?
