• I’ve heard great things about WordPress, but I’d like to know what I’m getting into.

I know a bit of HTML, but that’s about it. I have a site that utilizes building-block model, so I have not had to upload my own HTML

Assuming I’m an intelligent person, I read and follow directions okay, I’m reasonably motivated and I utilize a hosting company that does the install, how many man-hours might I spend to have a blog with some pages up and running.

    Thanks.

  • Installing and get it started – it is really a matter of minutes. Install it, find a theme ( e.g. at http://themes.wordpress.net) and you are good to go.
However, don’t expect that the customization of a theme will be as easy, too. That requires a lot of knowledge of (X)HTML and CSS.
For starting take a look at the documentation:

Well a stranded amoeba stuck on Saturn could install WordPress ^^, so you shouldn’t have many problems :P, when I first installed WordPress I had quite a few problems so I probably resemble an amoeba stranded somewhere on Pluto…

But back to the topic. If your hosting company does the install then you can pretty much start posting 5min after hitting the install button.

To be honest I highly suggest you to install WordPress manually since you’ll become more familiar with how WordPress works. And trust me, YOU WILL eventually have to grab an FTP client and edit some PHP, XHTML, or CSS.

The extra effort is worth it!
