Add Divider to Nav Bar

Hi there,

I need to add dividers between items on the main navigation bar.
Eg; Home | About | Contacts

Have tried applying the border-right property and using a background-image (background: url(http://www.markondigital.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/divider.png) no-repeat right;) but cannot seem to position the divider correctly. It shows but won’t center between the items. It looks more like; Home| About| Contacts|

Have tried applying these properties to various .main-navigation classes and fiddled with padding, margins etc but nothing seems to be taking.

Any suggestions?
