I dont want the menu items to get displayed , how to get rid of it

Also I want to remove the plus icon shown in the home page.

Just remove all the widgets and it will be gone

First create a Child Theme.

The easiest way to remove the menu is to create an empty one under Appearance -> Menus, and assign it to the primary menu area.

This works, but you still get a “menu” button on web-devices.

Not able to create empty menu , Can you be more descriptive.
