I just had to do a clean install of my blog because it got hacked. Everything works and looks fine, and a scan says it’s virus free.

Only problem is that I can’t edit posts properly. Some of the buttons don’t work AT ALL! Like “Add Media” or “Distraction Free Writing.” Other ones do like “Bold, Italics…”

What can I do to fix it?

    Thanks,
    Joe

If it helps, this happens after I click EDIT POST and try to enlarge the post to edit or insert a link…

    I’m also using Graphene theme.

The standard troubleshooting steps are to deactivate all plugins, reset the plugins folder (rename it using FTP) and switch to the default theme.

Make sure you have cleared any and all caching on your site, server and browser.

Ok, I did that and still none of it works.

I don’t see the default theme on your site.

Oh hi, Should I have left it on? I didn’t know. I will do it now.

It’s up now. Thanks for looking…

So when you restored the site, what did you do?

    Have you tried another browser?

Yes. It doesn’t work in Mozilla Firefox.

So it doesn’t work in any browser?

So when you restored the site, what did you do?

Was your site on this same host and working before you got hacked?

Doesnt work in Chrome either… I’m on the same host,
    yes. 1and1…

I’d suggest downloading a new copy of WP to your local computer and then uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

Generally a good idea to make sure you have a backup of your site before doing this kind of thing.

    It worked! Thanks WP Yogi!

I tried yesterday to do reinstall, but the key was not to overwrite old files, but delete the old ones first and then re-upload.

Also, it didn’t work just now until after I deleted and then reloaded “wp-content” too. I deleted everything in that folder, that is, except for my uploads.

    Thanks again!!!

YAY! So glad to hear that – these kinds of problems can be so illusive and frustrating. Good job :).
