Creating gallery look with pages not posts

To anyone that is WP savvy or just an expert at site building- PLEASE HELP!

I am not interested in a blog whatsoever. I was paying a few hundred for another template and I just can’t continue to do that so I have been trying to learn how to create a free website via WP. I don’t like coding and I am not very good at it so please bear with me….

I am using the snapshot theme. I posted in their help forum and have received no response so far. I am trying to have a menu at the top and a separate gallery view menu under an image slider. This is for a photo dominant website. The menu at the top is just my bio and references and contact page. The gallery menu is for the various galleries I am displaying. The image slider is for main teaser images. Currently though, this is a total mess that I can’t figure out. The menu at the top and the gallery menu are linked and are displaying all pages instead of just the text dominant ones at the top and the image dominant in gallery view mode underneath. The image slider is only linked to a post but I just want it to be images only. I assume I will have to delete that slider completely and install some sort of plugin? If someone can help me I will give you links so I can better explain. So far it seems I can only tweak the display with hardcoding how my categories show up but since these are pages and not posts that is useless to me :/
