My blog -- http://mathventures.org/ -- (which is a 1&1 blog, namely, it is hosted and the blog software is provided by 1&1 web site hosting service) has a sidebar on the left with links to other pages, a calendar, external links, category list. etc. I created and edited this sidebar. it's been a while since I needed to update it. Now I discovered that I cannot edit it.
So I searched the various settings of Site Admin to check if anything has changed. Under Presentations / Widgets I found the following message:
"are seeing this message because the theme you are currently using isn’t widget-aware, meaning that it has no sidebars that you are able to change. For information on making your theme widget-aware, please follow these instructions."
But I do have and can see the sidebar.
I am using the Terra theme that is provided by the WordPress software.
From the instructions the text refers -- http://automattic.com/code/widgets/themes/ -- it seems that the HTML code has to be edited.
The problem is that even if I wanted to edit the HTML code of the sidebar, I have no way of accessing it.
So what is the problem and how do I fix it?
Note that since the software for this blog is provided automatically by 1&1, I have no way of upgrading it to the latest version.
Thank you,
Uri
