Captcha request due to multiple access attempts on my site.

I installed WordPress a few weeks back, and I’m slowly building my site whilst a ‘coming soon’ page is active.

I haven’t accessed it for a couple of weeks, I just went to log-in and was met with a Captcha screen and a message reading:

“We have detected an increased number of attempts to access this login page. To help us keep this website secure, please let us know that you’re not a robot by entering the text from the captcha below.”

My last site was hacked repeatedly, and so I have started afresh on a new server & domain. I’ve not even finished building it and this is happening already… what’s my options?

I had a couple of security plug-ins running on my last site but I have no idea how they find or access these sites so not really sure what else I should be covering.

Any advice appreciated!
