Gallery page adding unwanted blog box

I am trying to create a gallery page of writing and art samples. When I create the page, it adds a blog box in the middle of the page and i can’t figure out how to get rid of it. The blog listing is on the right sidebar, why is it also in the middle of page. I have not knowingly added this. Please help. I’ve been fighting with this for hours now and am a WP newbie. Thanks.
