    Hi imath,

Awesome plugin, I like the fact that the person uploading takes ownership of the files they are posting and the ability to share in groups.

I am using WP 3.51 and BP 1.7. All of the Buddydrive mime types are selected. I know that the files are fine in the uploads/buddypress dir because I copied them out with another program. What I don’t understand is why they are corrupt when opening or downloading. pdf’s work fine.

    Hi jknowles

    Thanks 🙂

I’m sorry, just tested with a docx and it’s working. It may be the browser, try with another one ( chrome / safari / firefox )

You can add a link to one of the file that is causing the trouble if you want, by adding a comment on my blog, i’ll erase the comment once i’ve downloaded the file.

    Hi imath,

I did try all those browsers on other macs & ibms. Unfortunately, the development server does not see the outside world, so I can’t send the comment. I would get in trouble if I just put it in production…

Thanks for getting back to me. I will try it again after the dust has settled a bit on our end.

Any developments, @jknowles? I’m having a similar problem but not only with my Office documents – all my files get downloaded as corrupted.

@imath, I did try other browsers because I noticed that when I tried to download the files in Firefox, the popup identifies all my documents as “Firefox HTML Documents.” Unfortunately the problem persists in other browsers as well.

I’m also on a development server that doesn’t see the outside world. Could this be part of the problem??

By the way, amazing work with the plugin, @imath! I’m so excited to have this one up and running and am looking forward to seeing where you go with this! 🙂

    Hi @akukskuks

the last time i’ve tested it was working.. If you want you can add a link to one of your file using google drive, dropbox or another, i’ll try it on my local dév and on a real server.

@akukskuks, Sorry, there are no developments.

In production, we rolled back to Buddypress to 1.6.5 and put BP Group Documents back in.

While I really like this plugin, it is not where the organization wanted to go.

Thanks for the input guys. I’m really hoping to make this work for my organization too. It will be the perfect plugin if I can just get it working!

@imath, the files are being uploaded to the server just fine (we can access them directly on the server with no problem, in /wp-content/uploads/buddydrive/…) but on the front end everything is corrupted.

Do you think it might be a problem with conflicting plugins?? I don’t know much about servers but it must be something on the BP/BD end.

Well you can try to desactivate plugins…

If you send me an example of file that is causing the problem, i can also test to try to reproduce as i’ve already replied here.

My big problem is i can’t reproduce 🙁 So i have no idea about what’s wrong.

I did deactivate all other plugins besides BP but it still happens will all file types I try – jpg, png, xlsx, pdf. With pdf I can open the document, but the pages are all blank!

Yes, I saw your kind offer, and thank you. They are internal documents for my company and on our development server so I can’t give you access, but they are the file types listed above.

I understand that you can’t help much with only this vague information, but I just wondered if you had seen this problem before then maybe you could at least point us in the right direction as to where the problem could be…

If not, we’ll just keep trying on our end and keep you posted. Maybe it’s just our server. Thank you for your time @imath!

Ok i’ve tested again with a docx, i confirm it’s working for me.

@imath, we’ve found the problem and it was the server: BuddyDrive doesn’t work on the Windows server. We’ve tested it on a Linux server (virtual server on a Mac) and it works fine, so we are now going to properly set up a full Linux server.
