CGI error on IIS

I’m trying to get wordpress to work fully on my iis website. I’m running the comicpress theme and need to set the permalinks as dates (i.e http://workhate.co.uk/index.php/2007/10/13/4/). I followed Ringmaster’s very useful guide here and got the php.ini file up and changed the path to 1 as stated. However, now when i run it, it still comes up with:

CGI Error
The specified CGI application misbehaved by not returning a complete set of HTTP headers.

I used the windows binary files for php (and tried both with 5.2.4 ad 4.4.7 versions, and both give the same). From what i can see this can have multiple reasons behind it and i’m mostly clueless when it comes to cgi/php stuff in general. Could anyone give me a clue about what it’s going to be?
