Does slimstat track when a user clicks adsense ads as an outgoing link? I have been disappointed in statcounter’s ability to do this, and I’m seeking an alternative.

WP SlimStat exposes a Javascript function ss_track (see FAQs for more information about it) that can be used to do what you are asking. I would use this page as a starting point:

That is for ColdFusion, but the script they offer can be easily adapted to ‘talk’ to any server-side analytics engine.
