Polylang and pretty permalinks

Hello, I’m having trouble with the pretty permalinks (no plugin, just WP).

My settings for Polylang are :
The language code, for example /en/, is added to all urls when using pretty permalinks. and
Remove /language/ in pretty permalinks.

I’m not able to display permalinks in the %post-name% custom way. Whenever I try adjusting the settings, it ends up on a 404.

The permalink I’m trying to obtain is : example.com/en/services-activities/ for the english and example.com/services-activities/ for the default (french) version.

I’m using the default “blog type” homepage.

So far, only the “default” is working.

Link to the website and a screenshot of your permalink settings page will help.

What is the “default” exactly? do you mean the language?

Hello,
I have the same problem.
Only pages not work When custom permalink are enabled such as “http://www.site.com/%category%/%postname%/”

Only works when the “default” permalink is enabled (first option): “http://www.site.com/?p=123”

What I’m trying to achieve is to reach the page by:
http://www.exemple.com/page-name

Actually, I have
http://www.exemple.com/?p=id

The settings seems to be messing up with the language… all my pages are named base on their language (ex: services-et-tarifs vs services-and-fees).

Is this helping?

Go to polylang settings page and change the URL modifications option to: The language is set from content. Posts, pages, categories and tags urls are not modified.
After that re-save your permalink structure %postname%.

@backtheweb, try to apply the same change to the URL modifications settings and than go and re-save the permalink structure %category%/%postname%/

I tried about every combinaison possible, I tried twicking my .htaccess file to render some different base… This is really bugging me!

oh! No luck.
It’s a problem with the theme. I could not find where exactly.
The default theme works fine, so it must be a problem with the i18n.

In my case, works with this option “http://sample.com/language/en/”, but this is not nice

There should be no need to tweak your .htaccess. However, I am a bit puzzled. When I go to your site, I get an IIS 404 error page. If your site is on an IIS server, then I believe that there is no such file…

I know that some people had problem with IIS servers (I can’t make tests). I made some changes to help but it seems that it does not solve every cases. There is a proposed solution at the end of this topic: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/home-page-shows-posts-in-both-languages-iis?replies=15

That’s why Polylang defaults to the other option but keeps this one. Just in case… It seems to help some people even if I don’t know why.

To all, *always* test Polylang with a default theme and without any other plugins to check for a conflict. Some plugins and themes don’t follow the right way to flush rewrite rules and break WordPress as soon as they are used together with a plugin which defines its own rewrite rules.

I try to look for the “flush” function and it’s not on my theme. I’m using Blankslate with custom build css and html, so I didn’t put it there by accident either. There are no other plugins activated… I haven’t tried the solution on the http://wordpress.org/support/topic/home-page-shows-posts-in-both-languages-iis?replies=15 post yet.

Will look at this later this week. If by any chance you have another idea?

I’ll try to install WP in a root directory and set it up the same to see if it’ll work.
