Hello guys, I have a website which is very content-heavy and everytime I work in the admin area, especially content-editor it feels more and more slow everyday. I have a shared account on hostgator. I did a lot of searching over the web and in these wp forums regarding this but to my surprise not a lot has been written about this. Almost every topic out there is about how to speed up the wordpress frontend not the backend. Pardon my ignorance if I am asking for something absurd.

It will be extremely helpful if anyone could suggest a tool or hack or any alternative so that i could speed up my admin even by a little bit and I am sure others will find it helpful too. When I used to work with joomla, I had a plugin called google gears for the admin which was amazing. But I guess they never made anything like that for the wordpress admin.

Please show me a direction or a possible solution. Any suggestions are welcome. Enlighten me.

I have a shared account on hostgator.

That could be your problem. Maybe consider a better host. Ive found that most of the time a slow WP admin is due to the web host.

    Otherwise you could try:
    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

    – resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress

    – optimize your database
