I have a blog that has a lot of stuff for subscribers (members) only. This includes commenting, private categories, photo galleries, a web forum and polls.

When our members log in, they are redirected to the backends profile editor. Why? I am running a website, not a profiling service. My subscribers would want to enter their credentials on the sidebar, log in, and never leave the frontend.

    Is this possible already?

Or could this become a new user profile setting?

  • I see this is marked as [resolved], but I have the same question and would love to know the answer.

    Thanks,

Exactly. I had this funcitonality before I upgraded to 2.3.x, now it’s gone and for the life of me I can’t remember how I did it….

How do you direct a logged-in user to the front page rather than the dashboard?

Please I would like to know the answer as well.
How can i configure WP so that when a “subscriber” loged in he start with the frontpage and not with the profile page?

This would be great for the way i will use WP.

    thanks

Give them a login link that looks like this:

    http://example.com/wp-login.php?redirect_to=http://example.com

The redirect_to parameter tells where they go after they login.

    Excellent. Simple and effective.
