WordPress Password Retrieval Differences

    I see some wordpress installs when you’re trying to reset a forgotten password send you the password reset link, and others generate a new password and email it to you. Where does this difference come from? I there a setting somewhere?

    I’ve never had a WordPress installation send me a new password to me. Perhaps a plugin is doing that or maybe older installations do that, but the latest ones don’t do that (I’m guessing) for security reasons.
