New categories/tags not showing up on future dated posts

    This seems like a big problem that would affect a lot of people, so this may be a repeat, but I can’t find the answer, so…

    Using WP 2.3, when I post a future-dated entry with new tags or categories (that is, they haven’t been used before on other posts) those tags or categories don’t show up in the list of categories or the tag cloud even after the post’s date has passed and it appears on the front page.

    However, if I open the post in the edit screen on the backend and click “Save” everything shows up like it should. I really don’t want to have to do that each time, though. 🙂

    I’ve tried disabling all of my plugins and reverting back to the default theme, and the issue still shows up. Any help would be much appreciated.

    interestingly, your post seems to conflict with another issue.

    Exactly the opposite even.

    Just seen this post. I am having exactly the same problem on 2.3.1 with future posts not registering in categories when they appear on the website. They are shown on the management page as belonging to categories, but the admin categories list does not show them as members.

    Calling them up and resaving the posts that have appeared causes the category list to be updated, and the category to appear on the site. Resaving posts that have not yet appeared does nothing.

    As yet I have had no future posts in the same category, so I don’t know whether these posts will be added to the pre-existing category or not. In around a week I should have results on this.

    Anyone have any ideas?

    Having the same exact problem over here. Doing it like zamba’s doing: resaving after published.

    I also have this problem with WordPress 2.3.1.

    I run a blog with a lot of future post, so this is quite annoying…

    I, too, am having this problem with WordPress 2.3.2. I’m relieved to know it’s not just me!
