Custom functions

    I’m creating a ‘timeline’ of photos using, and in place of showing their date I want to show when it was taken. The website’s here: http://owenyue.com/timeline/

    I still want the posts to be ordered by when I posted them but instead of showing the date of posting, i want to create a custom function that I can define from within each post to display when the photo was taken

    I’d rather not use a plugin but am open to all suggestions

    p.s, at the moment i’m using the normal date function for when the photo’s are taken

    So far, if I create a function in the functions file with the variable ‘date’, and then call the variable on the post template file underneath the content function it works fine, as the variable has already been defined in the post content. But i’m not sure how i’ll be able to define the variable when calling the function in the post info section (just below header and above content) ?
