• I read on Talbot’s Forums that he (or she) works on this fine plugin every now and then depending on free time.

I wonder why WordPress developers have not decided to incorporate this multilingual feature in the heart of WP system. If there is one feature needed, it has to be this one.

That being said, would anybody know when Gengo for WP 2.3 will be available? Are there coders other than Talbot working on this?

    Thanks

  • Wonder if an outpouring of donations might encourage J. Talbot 😉

Interestingly, J. Talbot played a major part in the development of the term/taxonomy structure now employeed by version 2.3.

If Gengo were a part of WP, then WP could be marketed as a truly multilingual blogging platform… and all other plugins would hopefully start supporting Gengo features. That would be great.

    Any news ?

If Jamie worked a lot on the development of the term/taxonomy structure then surely he is preparing an update for his plugin so it can be compatible with WP2.3! Right now the plugin is not compatible with the new structure and on the Gengo Community we don’t know enough to fix that.

Oh, that’s really a shame for WordPress!! I have to install a multilingual site for a company (have more blogsites with one language WP). And I could only see here very low support/resources for development (one person knows how to fix anything), little or no responses on the plugin forum and instability. As I see I unfortunately have to go for Joomla or others to get this problem solved.

It’s a big shame and I’m very sad that WP core development team doesn’t see the point here.

It would be so nice to have this feature within my blog!

For whom it’s interesting I suggest to try my version of
    Gengo patch for WordPress 2.3.x

Note that there’s a google code project on this, fixing Gengo since the author has been unavailable – good to team up there and work with the rest of the guys:

    http://code.google.com/p/gengo-wp23/

I’m the coder behing the googlecode project, and I’m happy to announce that I have joined the main development chain alongside Jamie. We are quite ready for WordPress 2.5x, with the brand-new 2.5-rc1 release.

You can learn more on our progress here.

If you’d like to help, please consider posting your thoughts in the official gengo forum or submitting issues in the gengo issue tracker.

By the way, the project itself actually does not deal with donations, but I personally accept them (have a look in the middlebar) 🙂
