Embed private video on website.

    Hi All,

    I am new to all this so please bear with me.

    I have just created a personal family site and on this i would like to stream videos so my family can view them.

    My first option was to use YouTube and embed them as I currently have all of my videos on YouTube but they are set as private. The videos unfortuantely are coming up as private for others. If someone in my family wants to view them then they have to have a YouTube account and be authorised to view these as welll as being logged onto my site. I could set the videos to unlisted so they don’t appear in the Seaver results but then they are potentially still available if people knew where to look.

    The second option is that I load my videos onto my FTP but is it then possible to stream them?

    Any help is very much appreciated.

    What about using Vimeo? I think you can set them to have a password that the viewer can enter right on the page. WordPress has easy Vimeo embedding as well.

    You could just use a single password that would be fairly easy for family to remember.

    Hi Zoe,

    Thanks for the reply. I think with Vimeo I can only get 50 gb storage space and also ave to pay for it. I was using YouTube as it was free and I have about 80gb of video and will be adding all the time.

    Also with my web hosting company I have unlimited space so was hoping to be able to stream them from FTP maybe using a plug in?

    Embedding video that you’re hosting yourself isn’t that easy to do. That said, you could certainly search the plugins repository: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/search.php?q=streaming+video

    You are probably not going to get much in the way of specific plugin recommendations on the forums, though.
