    a quick round about solution:
    go to Appearance -> Theme Options -> Custom CSS ->
    type:

    #site-generator .powered {visibility:hidden;}

    click Save
    This will keep it off the display and prevent copy/paste but it will still be in the code, then again there wont be any way to strip the code of all its theme notes without reinventing the wheel. 😉

    Thanks @zenitin and @joaovr. But it is not recommended to remove or hide the footer links in the free themes as this is only the means of recognition for all the hard work on providing free themes.
