With the Jetpack plugin enabled and I am logged in as admin my WP installation is crawling. Stats bar never loads.

Disabled and everything is snappy and normal.

Could you try to deactivate all Jetpack modules, one at a time, and let me know if one of modules seems to be slowing your site down?

Thanks for getting back to me. It resolved by the next day. Perhaps it was a WP server communication problem.
