Deactivate the Child Theme and activate the original theme.
See if the problem persists.

Deactivate plugins to see whether any could be responsible.
If still your problem persists, reinstall the theme again.
The theme has no mobile issues that I can see http://wp-themes.com/sunspot/
I just installed that theme on a test site and it works fine on my iPhone and iPad… You’ll need to look at whatever changes you have made to the the theme or your child theme. A link to your site might help us help you.
The issue of distorted images is not Sunspot-related but rather with the child theme or custom css.
As far as I can tell all functionality is still working (small menu, responsive widths), only the images look off.
