Hello, I’m wondering if it’s possible to bypass timthumb all together and just use the default WordPress featured image thumbnails?

I tried setting “use WordPress thumbnails” to “yes” in the new Performance Optimization settings, but the listing view is still using timthumb.

Am I not understanding this setting?

Is there another way to completely unhook timthumb?

    Thanks!

  • hi,

I tried this one and works fine for me; could it be that you are using a caching plugin which causes the issue (if incase you are)?

also, do you have a sample link for us to see and can I know your current EM version?

Hi, I’m not actually using a caching plugin.

The events listing page is here, and I’m using version 5.3.6.1.

I should note that I customized my output by using the ‘format’ option and in that format I’m using the #_EVENTIMAGE{295,175} placeholder to output the image. I also tried simply #_EVENTIMAGE on a prior version, which pulled in the image without cropping it, but did not actually use the WordPress specified thumbnail size.

Is this setting not compatible with using the #_EVENTIMAGE placeholder?

that should still work with normal wp thumbnails.

does changing that to another image size change the image on your site?

Changing the first “#_EVENTIMAGE{295,175}” you mean?

Yes, that does change the image size, meaning timthumb is still running.

I averted all of this by writing a custom archive page entirely outside of the plugin, but happy to help you troubleshoot if that’s helpful to you.

    Thanks for your help.

this works with both timthumb and wp thumbs, if you want the exact wp thumbsize, then you need to use those sizes in your placeholder.
