    Hello,

    I am having a problem with style.css.

Should there be any lag issue between my server or wordpress whenever I update my style.css?

I've set my permission level to 646 and had always updated my style.css on my Browser. Thus, whenever I would like to amend my style.css, all I did was insert the codes and hit "Update File". I'd get "File Edited Successfully."

However, I do not get immediate effect change when I refresh my Blog. Sometimes, I have to wait about 20mins before the changes takes place.

Could there be something wrong with my style.css? Codings? Or are there any configurations I have to set?

Any helps would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Regards,
    freezay

    1) Be sure to clear your browser's cache when modifying style sheets.

    2) Are you running the WP-Cache plugin? If so, you might visit Options -> WP-Cache and hit the empty cache button after making changes.

    Either of those help?

    Hi HandySolo,

    Thanks for the prompt reply.

This could be the solution as I did not clear my cache all the time, neither do I have the WP-Cache Plugin.

I will try your suggestions now.

    Thank you.

    Regards,

If you don't have WP-Cache plugin, you can safely ignore my item 2 :-)

    This is bad.

I have totally screwed up my entire WordPress folder because I tried installing WP-Cache Plugin.

    Will get it fixed first.

    Thank you.

    Hi,

Neither of those worked. I had a terrible experience with WP-Cache.

Just to clarify, clearing cache on Firefox is just simply going to 'Tools > Clear Private Data > Check Cache > Clear Now' right?

That does not work for me. The changes does not appear in IE as well.

Are there any other solutions to this? Bad coding? Some configs file that I am missing that does not call my style.css?

Any helps would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Regards,

This question is really about the tools being used. Now me - I am Joe Simple. Text Editor and FTP. Thats it.

    Hi Root,

    Thanks for the reply.

Yup, I have tried using a text-editor(notepad++) and edited the codes i want and then, reupload to my server via FTP(FileZilla).

However, when i do a http://blogname/wp-content/theme-name/style.css, i still get back my OLD style.css.

I have already deleted my old style.css and reuploaded my new style.css.

Can't figure out why. Any solutions to this? =)

    Thank you.

    Regards,
    freezay

Are you positive you're not editing the style.css from a different theme than the you're looking at?

Or force the new page to load.

ctrl key or shift key held down while you click on the reload button on your browser.

And as HandySolo mentions, it could be other problems to.

Try to DELETE the old CSS. That will tell you where you are at :)

First off, thanks guys for the reply. :)

Yup, I'm positive that I'm editing the right style.css and had deleted my old CSS and reuploaded, etc.

Anyway, I tried the suggestion given by Samgreen and it works.

Solution: Hold down SHIFT key and click RELOAD on the browser.

What exactly does it do? It forces the new page to load by CLEARING THE BROWSER CACHE?

    Thank you all once again,

    Regards,
    freezay

it forces the browser to clear the cache for that page and reload the page from the website.
