That theme works by displaying featured images in the circles. It wouldn’t work with audio files. If you wanted to do that, you would have to customize the theme heavily.
Christine is correct — it would take some pretty heavy modification.
To point you in the right direction, I’ll first suggest making any changes in a child theme, as usual.
Then you’d want to copy over content-home.php from the parent theme to your child theme — that contains the code for the circles.
Then change your child theme’s copy of content-home.php to open an audio player instead of an image. That’s the part I can’t help with — how you do that is up to you, and/or the plugin you’re using.

Thank you for your quick response. I have already created the child theme and I will play around with the content-home.php file to see what I can accomplish. Since I am relatively new at this we”ll see how far I can get; but if I get it working I will post the solution.
