thumbnail not displaying next to comments – additional steps required?

    hello,

    i installed and activated plugin, uploaded photo to my profile and can see the photo and the thumbnail in the admin area and when i post a comment the ‘avatar’ next to the comment doesn’t change (i have it set to blank in settings > discussion > avatars). are there some other steps to take so that the thumbnail photo shows next to the comments!
