When you say that you removed the search function from the basic template, which template did you remove it from?
It looks like the footer.php still has the search function in there.
You realize that if there are updates to the theme you will loose your changes? It would have been better to make a child theme.
Hi Christine,
Thanks for the input.
1. How would I create a child theme?
2. How do I modify the footer?
3. This theme previews fine in Firefox, Safari and Internet Explorer. In Google Chrome, the new navigation removes the footer. Is there a fix for that?

Thanks again.
Can you answer my previous question?

All browser look the same here.
Once the child theme is installed, how can I tell if it’s working?
Does the new style.css override the one in the parent directory or can I copy that one into the child directory and add the required code?
Please, I need some answers:
1. How do I change the content of the footer. I need to add who the site has been created by, a logo and a link. I tried it in footer.php and lost the entire footer.
2. Once the child theme is installed, how do I know if it’s working?
I need to get this site finished as soon as I can, and the answers to these questions are hold up my progress.

Thanks.

You need to create a child theme before making changes to your theme files. See the link Christine posted above about how to do that.
If I create a child theme, will I have to make all the changes on it that I made on the parent?
Yes, some theme setting and options don’t transfer to a new theme (child or not). Your content will be there, the same, though.
