• I have a website, hosted with GoDaddy.com. I would like to change the theme. How do I “uploaded” templates to change theme?

  • upload the theme to your theme folder in wp-content.

then, in the wp control panel, go to presentation and change the theme.

Hello all! I’m having an awful time with godaddy and WordPress themes. I’ve uploaded a theme – andreas09 – but I can’t seem to edit it at all! Nor can I edit the sidebars or widgets. Please advise!

You edit a theme on your machine (after making a backup copy, just in case), and then upload it via FTP.
The online editor doesn’t have UNDO button, so don’t use it!

Moshu – thanks so much. This sounds like it’s going to be a ton of work. Is that so? I haven’t the faintest on how to edit the theme manually on my machine – any clue?

In a plain text editor, like Notepad. (Also, search the Docs for “text editor”!)
So, what exactly were you going to edit? Because the editing is the same online or on your machine: you change code in the template files or the the stylesheet…

Okay I’m trying to edit the backdrop to be blue instead of the white that it currently is. In fact – what it looks like now is at http://www.investmentplayground.net . I’m trying to transition from my former wordpress blog at investmentplayground.wordpress.com – in there you’ll see the correct blue. See the dilemma? Thanks for your help.

That’s a different theme, so it’s not really an issue of editing. Upload the same theme and they will look the same.
