404 error on converting

I tried converting a post from a standar post to a custom post that is provided by my theme. The post is successfully converted – in that it s visible a custom post summary on my website – but when I click on the summary it goes to a 404 Error page.

Changing the post type seems to change the link name and the post cannot be accessed, even though it shows up on a search, unless it is changed back to a standard post.

Is there any way to fix this, as I would like to convert about 10 pre-existing posts to the custom “Review” post type.
