  • Unzip the theme.

    Upload it to /wp-content/themes/theme name

Remember to keep it in it’s own folder in the themes directory.

Go to Presentation in the Admin panel and click on it for it to be displayed on your site.

It won’t change any of your content. It just changes how it is displayed.

What is /wp-content/themes/theme name..where will i find this after logging to my wordpress blog?

Ok, back one step. You installed WordPress – did you use FTP in this process or was it an automated install?

Well, to add new themes, you need to upload them to a specific directory within the WordPress structure, namely, /wp-content/themes

If you have never used an FTP client, I would recommend you find one on the Internet. A good starting point is http://filezilla-project.org/

Once you have that up and running, we can guide you through the next steps…

i have an FTP client..what to do now?

Once you have set up your FTP client to connect to your hostand site, you can then upload your theme.

Your theme should be in a folder, so you jsut upload the whole folder to your online site. Make sure the theme is uploaded to /wp-content/themes/

Is this beginning to make some sense now?

this means i need access to the server(host) on which my site is hosted?

I’m right with this guy. I’ve tired to upload using the filezilla I doanloaded, but there are no files in there with wordpress or wp-content, wp-themes, wp-anything.
Then when i tried type a file like you suggested /wp-content/themes/theme-it says that file already exists even though it doesn’t show. I downloaded wordpress from my yahoo account. I tried to making a file named wordpress and that’s where I put my theme?

holly, yes there is. You JUST have to look.

you put your install inside blog, so you find the directory named blog, and you look inside there.

This looks like the post I need to be looking at.

I have downloaded CLASSIC FTP — an FTP that works with MAC OS X 10.3.9 (as opposed to firezilla which only works for OS X 10.5).

I have connected the FTP to my ftp address that the hosting company gave me and yet I still can not find anything about /wp-content/themes.

Additionally in my dashboard I dont see anything that says presentation panel.

    Please some help.

    Thanks.

    1. Where is your blog?

    2. In newer versions it is Design.

    1. my blog is called shnewz.com
    2. ? = I dont understand what you are trying to say.

    Thanks for the quick response.
