Change the # of posts on home page

    I am trying to change the number of posts that show on my home page from 10 to 5. I went through the neccesssary steps below but it didnt save. Any ideas on what I am doing wrong! Thank you so much in advance!!

    Click on Settings.
    Click on Reading.
    Change “Blog pages show at most” to 5 and save.

    What theme are you using? Is there a setting within your theme options that may be over riding the standard settings?
