• Hi

Non techie creating a new wordpress site http://www.rebeccaallenclinic.com using Twenty12 theme.

    I created several pages.

When I go to homepage the tag over the address bar says Page not found and the text says
This is somewhat embarrassing, isn’t it?
It seems we can’t find what you’re looking for. Perhaps searching can help.

I checked in the trash but there is no homepage to reactivate. Perhaps I deleted it by mistake?

How do I reinstate it? Or what have I done wrong.

    Thank you 🙂

  • you can set any page to your home page.
wp-admin >> setting >> reading >> check a static page and choose any page you want.
hope my answer help you 🙂

    Thanks Ronald

But when I go to ‘check a static page’ the drop down list does not give Home as an option, only FAQ, About Shiatsu and Testimonials.

    Any other suggestions?

In that drop down, there should be a “blank” at the top of the list — I think that gets you the default home page.

Aha, great, progress, thank you …

now the Home page asks me to write a post, I don’t want posts on my home page, just some static text.
This ‘home’ is not listed in my ‘pages’ on the dashboard. I tried creating another page called ‘home’ to work on but the original home still remains so then there are 2 home pages!

    How to progress?

Delete the home page you created. And just edit the default home page – remove whatever is there that you don’t want. If it’s set to a static page, it should be a static page. Are posts showing up on the page?

I lost my home page and I don’t know what to do the page on the Site is White and in the WordPress “home” page section there is nothing how can I recover this page and content?

@sparkykva – if you need help, please start your own thread – it’s considered rude to interrupt someone else’s thread.
