That would be quite nice… then we could, you know, collaborate and be all open sourcey, and what have you. In the mean time, I can send you the updated version, should you like to take a look-see.

Yeah, I am after WAY too long, finally revisiting my presence here on the repo. Glad to see some nice responses and ideas here. I look forward to seeing what you have!

I was really excited about this plugin since I just migrated my 6yo blog from Typepad to WordPress (http://artfulparent.com/) and none of the images from the 1500 posts show up in the media library. However, It’s not working for me and I’m not sure what I might be doing wrong. I get this at the top of my site:

Notice: Constant EXTERNAL_IMAGES_DIR already defined in /var/www/artfulparent.com/wp-content/plugins/import-external-images/import-external-images.php on line 37 Notice: has_cap was called with an argument that is deprecated since version 2.0! Usage of user levels by plugins and themes is deprecated. Use roles and capabilities instead.

And more error messages inside the Media / Import page.

Any ideas on how to move forward?
    Thanks!

Both messages should be fixed but should not break anything. Sounds like you have a high level of debug error messages turned on.

Probably the same with any messages you see in the admin area since it seems to work. It just has some notices that will get printed out to the screen depending on your debug levels.

However it does mean I have some cleaning up to do. 🙂

Oh and it is on github now:

Github is updated with both messages fixed. Will update repo soon.

Marty, so I decided to give it another try. I’ve been running it and refreshing the screen for 4 hours now and it’s still now finished. Does that sound normal? I don’t know how many photos I have but 1500 posts x between 1 and 10 photos… Also, in the right hand side of the screen where it should list the photos by title according the instructions at WPBeginner.com it says this

    Process all posts
Notice: Undefined index: extension in /var/www/artfulparent.com/wp-content/plugins/import-external-images/import-external-images.php on line 308 Notice: Undefined index: extension in /var/www/artfulparent.com/wp-content/plugins/import-external-images/import-external-images.php on line 308 Notice: Undefined index: extension in /var/www/artfulparent.com/wp-

    Over and over and over.

What do you think? Should I keep going with this and refreshing the screen every time it stops or do you think I have a problem and need to stop?
