+1 would someone please develop this further!
I’ve put out a minor update today, this fixes a few small bugs and pulls in a few bits of code that I’ve written for bespoke projects.
I’m hoping to do a bigger rewrite soon, when this happens I will be moving to some kind of paid for model, possibly a free version and a premium version. I am hoping this will fund the time I need to push forward with development and to support the project, so there should be a lot more upgrades / fixes on the way.

I wouldn’t mind if you turn the plugin in a paid version. I just discovered this plugin and I am struggling to get it to work with custom fields in custom post types. I find it strange that there is no good solution for this. It seems to me that this type of drill-down search is pretty common, like in real estate, ecommerce etc. Surely there must be a demand for this.
Anyway, I hope you will be successfull in overhauling and monetizing your plugin.

Are you sure it still works with the latest WP version 3.5.1?
I could not get it to work. I did a fresh install to test. No other plugins, just one post with a custom field and two tags.
The plugin returns no results at all.

@eagerbob, it’s definitely working on my test install of WordPress 3.5.1 .
On your site the search does return one result if you don’t type anything into the fields so I can only assume that the fields aren’t matching up to the db correctly?
If the “tag” field represents a wordpress tag then the correct widget config would be:
Data Type=Tag
then I would usually use:
Compare=Equals
Widget=DropDown
although you could use:
Compare=Words In (or Phrase In)
Widget=Text Input
