WP Achievements has potential for gamification of work. A few suggestions for further development:

Could it count how many favorites/comments a user’s update/post gets and give achievements based on that? Achievements for being favorited (not favoriting). This would be a big deal for motivation and recognizing individual contributions.

Even better option would be to integrate this with something like buddypress like -plugin (rather than favoriting).

    Just some ideas…

To be clear: we’re talking about the “favourite” button in the BP activity, and you an event for *being* favourited?

If so, I looked at this and there’s not a particularly elegant way to get the event from BuddyPress at the moment. Maybe we can do this in a future release.

    Yes, that’s what I meant.

It is essential to track both user activity (eg. publish a blog post)) and “audience” reactions (like, favorite, comment). Likes should of course benefit the publisher of the content. Reactions really make difference in the engagement, because the recognition is given by other users, not some silly algorithm.

If you look at the enterprise gamification players in the market, this is what they do. We need something like that for buddypress!
