Install error

    I’m getting an error when I run the install. I think I’ve tried everything to get it up and running and I’m not sure what’s wrong.

    With SQL 5 is there something I need to do differently? It makes me name my database sitename_<name>. So I’ve made a database named sitename_<wordpress> and a username <wordpress>. I put those in the config and I get the error.

    DB_Name: sitename_<wordpress>
    User: wordpress
    pass: pass

    Is there something wrong with my DB name? Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    A little more information would probably help out. What is the exact error wordpress gives.

    Also if you have phpmyadmin installed try logging into the database using the username and password you have give to the wordpress config file.

    If that’s successful, then check and my sure that the php mysql extension has been installed properly. If you’ve just upgraded to mysql 5 then you may not have upgraded the php extension.

    Your host should be able to help you out if you can’t find the answers.
