Changing the header Image of a group blog

    I want to change the header of my club website. (I’m very new to the wordpress system)Apparently, from what I’ve found, you’re supposed to changed this image:

    wp-content/themes/default/images/kubrickheader.jpg

    HOWEVER, since I didn’t create the website, (although I have access to editing and everything else) I never downloaded WordPress, so I dont have any of the files for our club blog, thus I don’t know how to change ‘kubrickheader.jpg’ since that file is not on my computer.

    Is there a way to work around this problem and still be able to change the header? thanks.

    If you need to edit a file, look into using FTP (from the docs, FTP_Clients). In other words, all the files are on the website, go get ’em if you need to edit ’em. 🙂

    A search in the docs turns up Designing_Headers, which is a walkthru for changing the header in the default theme.

    Keep in mind, there are many other themes out there as well, some of them perhaps a bit easier to edit…

    sorry, if this question is obvious/stupid, but where exactly do I go to find the file on the website?

    (and what exactly is FTP/ FTP_Clients?)

    FTP is what makes the ‘net world go round. It’s a great term to put in a search field or search engine of your choice.

    It stands for File Transfer Protocol.

    Meanwhile, I’ve fixed my broken link in the earlier post so that you can follow the link to FTP_Clients.

    by the way, instructions for setting up filezilla state that

    ” if you do not already have an FTP account on your server, use your cPanel or website administration tool to set one up”

    but exactly where on a wordpress blog can you access your cPanel? (besides what is a cPanel?)

    cPanel is just one of the many control panel packages available to web hosting companies. Another popular one is Plesk.

    If you don’t have access to either of these (or Helm, or whatever) then you’ll have to contact your web host to get your FTP details.

    the people at Filezilla kind of wrongly assume that just because cPanel actively promotes filezilla that everyone who uses filezilla must therefore have cPanel. Clearly that’s not the case.
