• Just installed the plug-in to http://www.rewriteamerica.com/find-your-representative/ and it is unable to find any address or zip code entered even though the map in the background does show the drop-pin on the correct address.

    The API has been verified.

I was pretty certain I must’ve done something wrong so I tried on a local install of WordPress and it works perfectly. Ideas?

On a side note, there’s a near instant error when trying to update the photos which reads ‘An error occured while updating the Photos’. I do see the photos have been downloaded however when browsing the FileManager. Not sure if it’s related but thought I’d throw it out there just in case.

    Thanks in advance

Hello, I believe we answered your questions in our private emails. The problem was that you had not actually clicked the verification link in the Sunlight Labs API email. The plugin will not work without that link being clicked.

If you have any other questions, do not hesitate to contact up again.

I’m not sure which private emails you’re referring to. Perhaps another user? The API does show as verified with Sunlight, and if it wasn’t then I’m sure it wouldn’t have worked on an offline test site.

I can get the plugin re-installed so something actually renders. It’s not installed at the moment

Then I apologize for not replying to your initial post. I had an email conversation with another user about the same time as your original post and made a faulty assumption. My apologies.

If you turn on the plugin and it is still not functioning, please tell me the page where you have it installed so I can do some testing on it. We have seen a couple of instances where there was a server setting needed but we’ll need to see where it is installed to know for sure.

My apologies for the delay but it’s been re-enabled on the same page as earlier.

    Thank you for the link.

I have determined that the Google Map part of the plugin is working because I can put in a full address and the visual map changes to that address even though there is an error message about the address not being able to be found. Therefore, the problem has to be with the connection to the Sunlight Labs API.

Please do the following two actions and report back if the plugin still does not work.

    (1) Go to the original email sent to you from Sunlight Labs and re-copy and paste the API Key into the the API Key field at: WP Admin > Settings > CongressLookup making sure there are no spaces at the beginning or end of the key.

    (2) Also, in that same Sunlight Labs email that sent you the API key, there is an activation link that must be clicked in order to activate the Key. Please click this link, even if you clicked it before, to make sure the key is activated.

Try the plugin again and let us know the results.

    Hi,

Ok so with from step 1, I copy and pasted the API from the Sunlight Labs email. Chrome’s auto-fill kicked in confirming it was the same as before. I did also make sure there were no spaces afterward though. I tried the search again afterward and it looked like it was thinking for a while before giving the same ‘address not found’ as before.

From step 2, I click the activation link from Sunlight Labs (I knew saving those emails was a good idea!) and I got a message saying “Error Activating Key Could not activate key: Key Already Activated.”

I’m half tempted to just get another API key incase that one is corrupted or something. Yea?

    Hi,
either the API key is not updated in the wp-admin or, their’s really something wrong with the key you have, try this one and let me know:

    Hi,

So I made sure to copy and paste the exact API key from above without including any spaces or anything and it’s still saying ‘address not found’. There were no errors when updating the key. Think about you saying it may not be updating in the wp-admin, I though to look in /wp-admin/options.php and there’s a line which reads ‘congress_key’ and it does have the same API key as above, also without any spaces or anything. Is there somewhere else I can look?

    Update it directly from /wp-admin/options.php
