Awaiting Moderation (16020) ?!

    Hi guys,

    I am helping out a friend here so I am a bit of a newbie when it comes to WordPress. We have just upgraded to version 2.2. He was telling me to try and do something to prevent the amount of spam he is getting. At present he has 16000 comments to approve! Is there any quick way I can trash all of these?

    I appreciate your time on this matter.

    Go to “Comments” in your menu.

    Go to Mass Edit Mode, Check All, Mark Checked Comment as SPAM.

    If you are brave, you can use phpAdmin to drop the comments.

    I have 809 pages of comments and this only lets me do 20 at a time. 🙁

    How would I do use this using phpmyadmin?

    fire up your phpadmin. Look for the wordpress database.

    look for this table “wp_comments”

    try deleting one. If it works, go on delete others.

    hi,
    i am in a similar position to the original poster – his 16000 makes me feel more comfortable about my 1600! however, every time i try to load to the page to do a bulk delete, it either loads up half way and crashes, or doesn’t open the page at all but returns an error. My worry is that it’s overloaded…?
    again, i’m not familiar with the intimacies of wordpress, or web editing in general, so any help would be greatly appreciated!
