POST values for Dropdowns and Radios

I am trying to creat an IF condition with a plugin called Optional Content. However in order for it to work i need to know the ‘value’ of a field. I can easily get the field value for most of the fields but when i look at the source for the Radio or dropdown boxes instead of the ‘value’ i see ‘for’
is there anyway around this?
