Theme/plugin which allows any user sign up, and have their own public profile?

I’m looking to make a site where people would be signing up for an account and then accessing various profiles of other users that are also signed up. Are there any plugins or themes that are allow users to enter information on their own profiles, making them visible to the rest of the site users?
