• Hi,

Great little plugin, but I’m having a few issues with the highlighting of search terms found in the titles of posts / pages on the results page. It seems that the highlight formatting is being applied to the whole of the title, and the existing title formatting is being broken somehow.

A little difficult to explain, so I’ll give an example. I have a page called Lucas MT210 LED light board and when I search for ‘Lucas’ the result has a title which says:

Lucas MT210 LED light board”>12v Lucas MT210 LED light board

i.e. the title is repeated twice with a quotation mark and right arrow separating the two instances. The highlight formatting has also been applied to the whole title, not just the search term.

This problem seems to occur just the same if I add highlight formatting using either the “Highlight Background Color” or the “Full Highlight Style”. Even just entering red in the background highlight box as suggested as an example has the same effect.

Ideally, what I am trying to achieve is to give the found search terms a bold and/or underlined formatting in the search results.

I’m using the latest version of WP with the Striking theme if that makes any difference. My website is here: http://matchlessclueless.com

    Thoughts anyone please?

    Thanks, James 🙂

I’ve uploaded a screenshot of the search results page showing the highlight formatting error here:

Also, I’ve just noticed that it is also affecting the entries in the ‘Latest Posts’ widget to the right of the search results area.

    Suggestions please!

Having the same issue. It looks like the highlight span is being included in the href since it has the same search term and is therefore being displayed. I’ve tried hiding it with CSS but I can’t target just the <a title> since the span class is the same around the search term.

    Ideas?

No solutions my end as yet I’m afraid – as you can see there’s not much support offered for this plugin here on the forum!

I have just turned off highlighting as a temporary (not ideal) fix for now…

    Again, thoughts anyone please? :'(

Hi. Just updated to the latest version (v7) of the plugin and I was hoping that this bug might have been fixed. But sadly it still seems exactly the same!

Does the plugin author read this support forum at all???

    James 🙁

    I’m having the same issue.
