Hi. I have a new install of wordpress on my site and I would like to change how the post form is displayed and submits. Basically, I want more than the title and post input boxes. For example, I want an input box that has it's own "area" on the post page or one that has its own unchangeable formatting. So for example that particular element could go in a box at the top of the page and appear bold. Does anyone have an idea on how to do this or can direct me toward more information? Thanks

P.S. I was also thinking this could maybe tie into the post's metadata as well so for example you could search for a specific number (ill say 7) and all posts that have 7 in this element would show up on the search results. Hopefully this makes sense.

If I understand correctly, 1) you need to fool with themes for the admin page and 2) if you need to store something in the database that normal WP doesn't do, then you so look into custom fields. Getting it into html head meta tage would be an exercise in plugins and/or php.

There's a lot of plugins that might do what you want from what little you've described.
