I need help with this option. At first I thought it would simply ignore these tags when searching for other articles. Not so. If two articles have any of the tags from the list, they are automatically unrelated. Example: we have two articles, A and B. A has tags 1, 2 and 3, while B has 2, 3 and 4. 2 is something I want to be ignored, and if I put it into the list, A and B are not related, even though both have 3 in their tags as well. Is it possible to change this behavior, or should I look elsewhere? What I’m trying to achieve is genres and titles, more or less. If two movies have ‘action’ in their tags, I don’t want them to be related just because of that. I know there’s a threshold, but it won’t work because some have multiple genres.

  • The right way to do this (“genres” and “titles”) is probably to have them be custom taxonomies. That way you can control how each taxonomy is weighted (more or less important) in your relatedness computation.

What would I use tags for then, in this case?

My understanding was that you were using tags for genres and also other things but didn’t want to consider genres in the “relatedness” computation. You can solve this by using “genre” separately from tags, and then only considering tags in the computation of relatedness. I hope that makes sense, but perhaps I misunderstood what you’re hoping to do.
