• I am trying to use the RSS widget to display the feed from my tagged items in Google Reader. I have made my feed public on Google Reader and the widget pulls in the and displays the titles correctly. Unfortunately none of the links work.

Looking at the links, it appears that the widget is removing some special characters like ~ or adding more information than necessary.

I read that this is becasue the feed from Google is in Atmo format as opposed to RSS 2.0.

    Anyone get this to work?

The current Magpie RSS reader does not handle ATOM feeds well.

ATOM is looking to be the approved standard for all things feedery, and so enhanced future support in WordPress is quite likely. But not for a while. There’s been some pushback from the WordPress developers, some of whom have the crazy opinion that we should remove feedreading entirely.

So for now, the arguments will continue, and ATOM will continue to be badly supported.

Is there a qnd fix or a workaround for the Google Reader feed?

Ok, managed it with the clip function from Google in a text widget.

ssqsabr, how did you fix this issue? It’s been driving me crazy for the past few weeks.

I don’t really fix it. The GoogleReader has a clip-function to easily put your feed to a static html page (there’s some information in the help of GReader).

That simple javascript code was put in a text widget und it runs…

As a work around, i convert the google reader feed to RSS first before add it to widget.

I use Yahoo! Pipes to do the conversion, try it here: http://pipes.yahoo.com/pipes/pipe.info?_id=bkOZZzUR3RGNveGAw5tC8g
